Beautiful Celebrant Led Wedding at Wotton House Country Estate

I was delighted  to receive a call to perform a wedding at the wonderful Wotton House in Dorking Surrey, originally the centre of the Wotton Estate and the seat of the Evelyn family. It was the birthplace in 1620 of diarist and landscape gardener John Evelyn, who built the first Italian garden in England there.

Due to family circumstances, the wedding was bought forward & arranged very quickly indeed,within two weeks to be precise. What a fabulous job my couple, the wedding team at Wotton House, and not forgetting me, did to create such a beautiful day in such a short space of time.

Because we were under extremely  tight time constraints, I met with Jen, John and Jen’s parents at the venue, to not only find out about their love story, but to also get a feel for the kind of day they really wanted to achieve.  Well, like many brides Jen wanted a fairytale wedding with fairy lights and lots of beautiful flowers… how lovely!  

During our meeting it became clear that there was a funny story to be had with regard to the engagement rings and a pair of jeans, so on returning home  my wonderfully talented wife got to work creating a surprise bespoke pillow made from a pair of jeans to present the wedding rings on.

I spent the next few days crafting Jen & John’s love story & wedding script, before sending it to them for approval. 

The day itself came around in a flash and I arrived at Wotton House several hours before hand to ensure everything with regard to the wedding area was in place. The grand vaulted ceilings, pillars and centuries-old original fireplace set a romantic tone for an indoor ceremony in The Old Library, and the decor was absolutely spectacular highlighted with fairy lights everywhere. It was a wedding to remember with smiles galore.
